1st July
Day 6 was a free day for the team as we took to the computer to plan the new schematics, with of four of us still at a dead end for the piping issue and the idea of changing the project site. An idea sprang up for us to relocate the plans to an area near the surau where a steady supply of used water from the pipes was not being utilized. While Ivan and Zhi Peng were in the main site, Aaron and Ben Zhi continued with the blueprints. In the end, after meeting Puan Ng, we stood on our decision for the project site while also adopting an effort towards the proposal, making it two schematic plans. Aaron stayed back after school with Miss Ng and Puan Lim till 3pm, discussing on the project details and waiting for the piping official to arrive and plan out the mechanisms needed, but unfortunately he was not able to make it. The meeting was rescheduled for another suitable date.
Day 8
2nd July
A much anticipated day as members from PRS (Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya) were drafted in to help us out. The first part of the day had been spent discussing the problems which had been posed at us from our teacher advisors. After much debate and surveying at the garden, a concept had been proposed to divide the garden into two: a rock garden and a plant garden. As the name suggests, the site will be divided into a pebble-filled area with smooth shell rocks and the other area will be thoroughly utilized as a mini-plant nursery. We requested the help of Yao Chang to be part of the external team to check on flowering plants and pebbles needed for the garden. PRS members today helped in the filtering of the garden of rocks and other unneeded items. Besides that, the soil in which to start the nursery was inspected, with Ivan and Zhi Peng nearby to observe its fertility. Ben Zhi had redesigned the schematics and he together with Aaron was involved in the theme song composing. Zhi Peng had earlier redesigned the team logo which will be used on the banner for the opening ceremony next week. Here’s today’s listing of photos. Enjoy…
Day 9
3rd July
Of the one week we’ve been in the campaign, Day 8 seems to be the most remarkable. At the start of the day, Aaron had to discuss with Pengetua Lily and our teacher advisors regarding the costs involved in the planned project, with some financial support ideas being brought up. Later, as the official opening of the campaign was to be next Monday, the theme song had to be finished. The piano score had been done for days, but there were no lyrics to it. And so, distractions and illness aside, the lyrics were composed today by Aaron and Joshua, a new member of the external team. Though at first there was not much steadiness to it, the song fitted well and will be performed next week at the assembly. Congrats to the whole composing team! Next, after school hours, our dear INTI Mentor, as we refer to her, had dropped by to check on the team’s progress. After much discussion with the teachers, Aaron managed to show her the planned sites of the project. All the details were discussed thoroughly, including ideas on the proposals and reports that were being considered. She left around an hour later, not before taking a picture at the site and lending her utmost support for the plans. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts! Right after that, Aaron briefed Puan Lim and Miss Ng on the discussion, and it was decided the team drop the surau plan as our resources were really stretched. At this point, all the other team members had left. Thus it was agreed that we concentrate on the garden plans whole-heartedly, with the rock garden, filter mechanism, and plants being the priority. An eventful day with its many twist and turns, there is no doubt it is a memorable one. Stay tuned for more updates coming your way soon.
The team during the composing session
Overall, Week Two showed much progress in ideas and the plans of the campaign. Next week will be the official launch of the campaign, and so expect more updates on the site. We, Team HydroNeptune, would to like to just take a moment to thank all those who have supported us this far, and we hope you will continue to be part of our projects to ensure it being a shared success for all.
